An elderly woman has been hacked to death with an axe on Thursday evening on a farm just outside Pretoria.

Pretoria businessman Pierre Niemand told Rekord he received a call on Friday morning informing him that his mother-in-law, Marlene Brits (70), had been brutally murdered on Niemand’s farm on Thursday.

Farmers deserve a thank you, not a murder – minister

Agriculture Minister Senzeni Zokwana and AfriForum met this week to discuss the safety of farmers and people in rural areas, they said in a joint statement on Saturday.

Attackers beat farm couple with spades after load shedding!

A Mpumalanga couple is recovering in hospital after an unknown number of criminals entered their farm home and attacked them with a spade on Thursday night.

According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Leonard Hlathi, Gerhard Kunneke (aged between 58 and 60) and his wife Lynette, 57, were attacked at the Macadamia farm in the Kingstonvale area near Mbombela around 21:00.
